Brace Yourselves For Impact

Updated: Jul 9

Now I promise this is not going to be a sad story. The last words of advice I received from Dr. Ken were, “Don’t let it get too dark”. I’m holding true to those words. This is some funny shit, and it’s about to get real…

I’m an early riser, rested and recharged and ready to go like the damn Energizer Bunny. The rest of my family doesn’t share this with me, Josh says I’m like a bull in a China shop. I try to be quiet, seriously! I love this time; sunrise, birds chirping. I’m so glad it’s all mine.

This morning, I woke up around 4:30. Yup. Normally my internal alarm wakes me up minutes before my alarm clock but some days it’s a bit earlier. Dogs flanking me, hot flashes roasting me, or what I call new injuries during the night. I never know what to expect, that is, depending on how I tossed and turned through the night how I feel when I wake up. With all this hardware, if I'm not aligned and symetrical, I ‘ll wake up with crazy nerve pain – that’s another story, it’s kind of funny and I’ll save it for another day.

This is one of those mornings when I have radiating pain on my right side, wrapped around my ribs and down my arm. My chest is heavy and when I breathe, I feel it in my pinky, my neck and down my right side. This is no pity party, don’t feel bad for me…Seriously! I’ve had a great run. 30 years with little to no pain like this, I'd like to say this comes with the territory. (kind of like the Wild Wild West in fact)

“Quietly” I make some coffee and turn on the heating pad to lay in my cozy kitchen corner. That helped a little. Next stop, hot tub. YES I have 3 mosquito bites on my forehead and YES my necklaces are all tangled and hanging in front of me! It’s all good.
